Design / Build
The design/build process, simply
put, means "teamwork".
It’s
a management philosophy based on the idea that an owner, contractor, architect,
and engineer when working together, can achieve the best possible results.
Under
the design/build system, a project manager is
selected to assume sole responsibility for each
phase. Subcontractors are selected based on the
project’s
needs and they, in turn, become part of the design/build team.
The relationships
that
evolve between team members means that timelines, budgets, and objectives
are consistently met with an emphasis on quality,
and that many
of the problems associated with conventional construction methods are avoided.
By facilitating cooperation and communication, design/build also contributes
