Lamar HQ Featured In WZZM 13 Story
HUDSONVILLE, Mich. (WZZM) - A building that's turning heads on Interstate 196 is getting a national award. You may have noticed the odd shaped building owned by the Lamar Construction Company.
The American Institute of Steel Construction also noticed it, and gave it a prestigious steel construction award. The award recognizes innovation in architecture and engineering.
The building which has the longest occupied cantilever in the U.S., which is 112 feet long. A cantilever is a structure anchored at one point and looks like a giant ledge sticking out.
The building was picked out of 100 from all over the U.S. The building took one year to plan and build.
